On Sunday, July 11th we celebrated our annual PRPA Picnic. This year, the picnic was co-sponsored by the very prestigious HISLEA members. Our families and our supporters came out in full force. As always, all those law enforcement officers that we work with on a daily basis needed no invitation to come out and join us. We have always been about building networks and inclusion. Family and unity were the themes of the day.
A very special thanks to all of those volunteers that refuse individual recognition. This event could not have been such a success without all the hard work the volunteers performed.
The music was great, the clowns cheered up the kids, and the food was in abundance. We all kept our fingers crossed and the weather cooperated.
As expected, we conducted the formal drawing for the Ruger 380 pistol we raffled. We are pleased to announce that Marie Corso, of the 19th district (Chicago Police Department) was the winner, Congratulations and thanks again for your support. We also thank our raffle sponsor Ray O’Herron for their continued support.
Let’s share ideas for next years picnic, and let’s continue to keep families first.
Next year, we hope to continue and expand on the event. With the right vision and direction this can develop into a festival for the law enforcement community.

To all of our members:
The PRPA is in the process of up-dating records. Part of that task is to make sure we have a current list of all our members. Please e-mail our secretary, Officer Ricky Colon at rcolon@prpachicago.org with your phone numbers, address and additional e-mail addresses so that we can better contact our members at a minutes notice. Your information is confidential. We are all law enforcement officers and your privacy is protected. We would like to be prepared to support our members in good times and in times of need.
We also are requesting that our members renew their memberships as soon as possible. By renewing your memberships you assist us in overcoming some of our expenses. The membership dues are still only $20.00 per year for regular members and $15.00 per year for associates.
Payments can be made at our monthly meetings or by mail to PRPA, P.O. Box 12938, Chicago,Il 60612.

The Puerto Rican Police Association expresses gratitude to all of our supporters. May you enjoy a very Happy New Year surrounded by family and friends. May you all be graced with good health and prosperity.
This calender year is already marked with several events planned for our members. This Summers picnic will soon be in committee. Our Summer and Christmas Party will also be discussed at our general meetings. We will continue to host these events in an effort to maintain the unity and interaction of our members.
The Puerto Rican Police Association has always supported our brother and sister law enforcement organizations. This year we will be involved in an outreach effort to collaborate with law enforcement organizations to consolidate resources. By networking with other law enforcement groups the PRPA can develop as a civic and cultural organization.
The PRPA will continue to request the valuable time and resources of our members. Our priority this year will be to establish an office to prepare for the organizations future. We ask our members to contribute their talents to make our goals a reality. Thank you.
Truly Yours, Carlos Rivera, Puerto Rican Police Association President
